Animal Pendant Meissen® Pug Sir Henry

Order No.: MPJ20HS0333SH
3x3 cm, 17 g
The production of jewellery from porcelain traces back to the beginning of the Meissen manufactory in the 18th century. Pug figurines, especially, enjoyed great popularity during that time. The courts of King Augustus III even gave rise to a pug society, for which master sculptor Johann Joachim Kaendler created a considerable number of pug figurines in the 1740s. The amulet "Sir Henry" is a rendition of Germany´s most famous pug Sir Henry, who, from 2006 to 2018, stood by his owner, Uschi Ackermann´s side. Sir Henry gained national notoriety in 2007, when he appeared in court with his owner, dressed in a tuxedo, suing his breeder. With this limited series crafted from the finest porcelain, MEISSEN, together with Uschi Ackermann, have captured this epic scene in Sir Henry´s life for collectors and pug lovers to appreciate.
