Single Figurine Harlequin with Lidded Pot

Order No.: 900300-64551-1
23x10 cm, 520 g
The "Harlequin with Lidded Pot" by Johann Joachim Kaendler belongs to the series of figurines of the Italian comedy. The design of Commedia-dell' card figurines by Kaendler is in direct connection with the arrival of a new group of comedians, who engaged August III in Venice and arrived in Dresden in 1738. The dedication indicated on the pot also refers to this - ZM stands for the stage name Zanni Müller. Behind this is the Saxon harlequin actor Joseph Ferdinand Müller. The year 1738 refers to the numerous festivities on the occasion of the wedding of Princess Maria Amalia of Saxony to the King of Sicily and the fifth anniversary of the coronation of Frederick August II of Saxony as King of Poland.
