The animal sculpture "Dachshund" by sculptor Otto Jarl from 1904 testifies to an excellent ability to observe and a deep understanding of animal-typical behaviour. At the beginning of the 20th century, animal sculpture experienced a renaissance in Meissen porcelain. It was a special honour and inspiration to renowned sculptors of the Art Nouveau period to design exclusive animal figurines for Europe's oldest porcelain manufactory and to deal with a great tradition.
