Limited Edition 2020 "Night Sky" box with cherub

The box with putto "Night sky" from Meissen Arts and Crafts is part of a special edition and limited to a number of 50 pieces. The model of the box comes from a template from 1937 by small sculptor Paul Scheurich. Lost in dreams, the small, hand-painted animated putto sits on his pillow, his hands placed in his lap. Below him the clear starry sky, from which the moon lovingly smiling and wisely watches over the night. Like little shooting stars, delicate hand-painted accented golden stars fall here and there from the cobalt blue sky of the lid onto the brilliant white porcelain. Available in limited editions, this box stands as a testament to the finest Meissen craftsmanship. In addition to the figure and decor, the Christmas colors of cobalt blue, red and gold combined with the white vessel evoke the Holy Festival, contemplative afternoons by candlelight, a cup of tea and delicious Christmas cookies.
