Limited Edition 2020 "Hummingbirds" box with Limoges-style enamelling

A particularly elaborate technique from bygone times was used to decorate the limited edition "Hummingbirds" box - the so-called Limoges painting, which was originally used to decorate metals with enamel and is now considered a sophisticated craft. With this technique, the porcelain painters succeed in hand-painting an almost ghostly transparency. A technique that is still used worldwide only in Meissen arts and crafts and as a rare specialty adorns this limited edition box. The birds and floral designs are hand-painted layer by layer with white paint on the black primed, glazed porcelain. Depending on the number of layers, parts of the painting appear almost transparent, unfolding a distinctive spatiality on the black background. Only the Meissen manufactory still masters the refined craftsmanship that Limoges painting requires. Thus, this limited edition hand-painted decorated box is a unique and charming piece of porcelain history.
