In his time as chief sculptor, the contemporary artist Jörg Danielczyk (1952) had a significant influence on the Meissen design language in the past decades: As a model master, collectors know him for his sculptures and murals, he is mentioned in a row with Meissen old masters such as Kaendler, Kirchner or Leuteritz. In the last five years of Jörg Danielczyk's work in the manufactory, his focus has been on wings and fins - including the 27,5 cm high sculpture "fin". With this sculptures he repeatedly reinterpreted Meissen porcelain and brought wings and fins to life in a variety of ways. What appeals to him is the aesthetic and plastic diversity of meaning that sculptures made from Meissen porcelain gain when they are detached from any physical connection.
